For our neighbourhood, for our future.
Please read, discuss, and help make local life more transparent.
Please familiarise yourself with these topics and bear in mind that this is about our local life.
If you zoom out, and these things happen on a grand scale, imagine the scale of the consequences and the impact on our lives and the lives of our children.
Your own potential may be systematically wasted through everyday, mundane situations that seem small but happen on a daily basis, with uncertain intentions behind the way the system works. If it feels wrong, it probably is.
Some of these things might happen, but we simply do not ask for evidence. Check the evidence, have the time or capacity to evaluate what is happening, feel that we have a way to propose solutions, listen to the outcomes, enforce solutions, or correct wrongdoing.
That is because of the nature of these issues: secrecy, an implied expectation of a certain behaviour, confidentiality, fatigue when actions are carried out routinely, and decisions made behind closed doors.
They can make us feel scared and fear that improvements will not be possible. Even though it is our life, our future, our neighbourhood, our playgrounds, and our time that are genuinely at risk, we fear the repercussions.
How is it impacting us in real terms?
Think about every aspect of life. Wherever you go, there may be a minefield, with structures set up to catch you out.
Ice cream vans are just the start. They make a lot of noise when you want to relax, and your children eat a pile of sugar, making you feel like a failure. There is always next time. You will have time to make something good and prevent it. It can be a last-minute wake-up call in the middle of the day.
Home improvements around us. The sound of chainsaws. We feel as though our house is always falling behind. Why? Because it probably is. You compare yourself on social media with people who have an island in the middle of the kitchen, a hosting house where you do not feel embarrassed to invite guests. You always seem to have a pile of unfolded laundry in a basket, with your children's uniforms crinkled inside because you had no time to wash and iron them. That is if you get to have children.. The noise from those machines is so loud, you probably get only half the work done than you would need to get ahead with your workload to pay for your life, let alone extra stuff.
Do you ask yourself the ‘why’ question? It’s the entire market, from start to finish. You start getting to the bottom of how things work, yet there is always a little distraction. You go to your doctor, trying to get help, but end up being treated for a completely different set of problems. I personally asked for one thing and received referrals that cost me my job and affected my ability to work things out because of a situation I never asked for. All I asked for was some help.
With care and I wish you some good luck,
